Las Vegas
A business meeting took me to Las Vegas. Since I had some vacation days left I thought it would be good to combine it with some birding as well. I did some research on the web(of course), and quickly found what I was looking for at Birding Around Las Vegas; a guide to the bird hot spots around this city.
This excellent site led me to three great places during my short stay. Corn Creek for desert species, and migrating passerines. Mount Charleston(Lee Canyon) for montane species, and Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve for wetland birds. Henderson's sewage ponds was a great place to bird, and was also home to a visitors center, and very knowledgeable staff.
